Shouler joint is a mobile joint of the body with less stability. In recent research, it has been observed that shoulder pain is a most common complaint among sports players. Rotator cuff muscles are responsible for shoulder stability. So strengthening of these muscles is important to prevent shoulder related pain.

Badminton game requires the high functionality of shoulder. overhead activity increases chances of shoulder pain. So proper strengthening can prevent shoulder pain.

PROPRIOCEPTION
What is proprioception?
Proprioception is a specialized variation of the sensory modality of touch that encompasses the sensation of joint movement (kinesthesia) and joint position (joint position sense).  If we simplify it than proprioception is the the sensation which make us aware about our joint position in space. For example, with closed eye also you can be aware that your elbow is bend or your fingers are open etc.
What structures are responsible for these sensations?
The sensory receptors for proprioception that are found in the skin, muscles, and joints as well as in ligaments and tendons all provide input to the central nervous system (CNS) regarding tissue deformation. Visual (Eyes) and vestibular centers (Ear) also contribute afferent information to the CNS regarding body position and balance.
What happens in case of injury?

Trauma to tissues that contain mechanoreceptors may result in partial de-afferentation (Massage cannot be send to brain properly), which can lead to proprioceptive deficits. And it can make us susceptible to re-injury.  Therefore Regaining neuromuscular control after injury or surgery is a necessary prerequisite for athletes wishing to return to competition. The neural input that is provided by the peripheral mechanoreceptors as well as the visual and vestibular receptors are all integrated by the CNS to generate a motor response.  As defined earlier, proprioceptive feedback plays a major role in the conscious and unconscious awareness of a joint or limb in motion.

Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome

Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome

Medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS) is a common exercise-induced leg injury among athletes and military personnel.

How to identify MTSS?
You will feel pain along the postero-medial border of the tibia that occurs due to exercise…’’ and in addition: ‘‘pain by palpation of the posteromedial border of the tibia is present over a length of five or more consecutive centimeters’’.

Pathology
Currently, it is thought that MTSS is a bony overload injury; i.e., the tibial bone bends during weight-bearing activities causing strain in the tibia. This strain normally causes micro damage in the bone, which leads to bone adaptation processes to strengthen the bone to resist tibial bending. When this strain exceeds a certain threshold and becomes overloaded, the osteoclast activity may outpace osteoblast activity, leading to local tibial osteopenia.

Treatment (According to research articles published after year 2010)
1. Iontophoresis, Ice Massage, Phonophoresis and Ultrasound found effective in management of MTSS.

2. Low-Energy Laser Treatment didn't add beneficial effect in relieving pain in MTSS.
3. Graded Running Program, Stretching/Strengthening and Sports Compression Stockings didn't find effective for long term pain relief in MTSS.
4. Pulsed Electromagnetic Field didnt find significant in treating MTSS.
5. Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy found somewhat effective in treating MTSS.

Conclusion
From research article we can conclude that Ice massage, Iotophoresis, Ultrasound, Phonophoresis and rest is most effective way to treat MTSS.
